WTB: 18" R105, matte black, full set.
 

Looking to upgrade my '06 MCS from the stock silver crown spokes to the JCW 18" matte black double spokes (R105), though I'm (obviously) not looking to fork over the ~$2300 to the dealer...

I'm located in Los Angeles, CA area and can pickup within 200 or so miles, or cover shipping.

I wanted the same wheels but I ended up with 17" Koneig Brite Lites. They weigh about 10lbs less each corner. Plus, at $139 each, if you wreck one, you can just buy another.

Same thing here. Was dead set on R105's, but initially it was the ridiculous dealer price which dissuaded me. Then I saw weight ratings and recognized, in that price range especially, I could do so much better. Also the wheels are only 7" wide which makes it especially absurd that they weigh a proverbial ton.

Originally I didn't know or see the big deal about weight. But when you see how much they hurt acceleration, braking, ride, handing... It just didn't seem worth it. I mean just 1 pound of unsprung weight roughly translates to 10 pounds sprung! So it's like STLMINI took 400 pounds out of his car by foregoing the R105's. :eek:

Finally, it is hard (or at least was for me) to find them without tires, and I really wanted to ditch the RF's. That said they are good looking wheels. So if you can't be dissuaded, best of luck! :thumbsup: At least they weigh less than the R109's (over 25 lbs!). To me those are the most gorgeous OEM wheels. :nod:

I have a set of R105 rims that may be for sale after the 1st of the year. If anyone is interested let me know.

They're about $1,300 for a set at Morristown, not including tires.
