WTB: (Don't kill me) (Imitation?) Palo Uber Wing

Guys, I know how much we all hate Palo Uber, but I must admit, their Uber Wing is one incredible-looking piece of work, but DEFINITELY not worth $400. If anyone has an imitation Uber Wing, or a good price on a real one, I would be elated!

minjae Sep 28, 2007 07:49 PM

i wouldnt mind a fake one either. as long as it looks the same or close to.
i think it looks pretty nice.
would add a little flair to the rear end.

(sorry to excite you konstantinos88..just trying to join in on a deal if ya dont mind.)

PGT Sep 28, 2007 07:51 PM

the extension or the wing? the wing is $800, the extension is just a stick on piece that goes on the stock spoiler. An OEM M3 or Audi lip spoiler for $99 would be a good substitute. In fact, I wouldn't doubt if that's PU's source for it  (you be the judge)

:p I thought I had a real response and checked immediately!!

I just don't want to end up buying one from their site. Unfortunately, it's one of those parts that you buy and can't really resell, seeing as it's applied with a double sided adhesive strip...

Edit: I'm looking for what you have in your picture there, PGT. Are you sure the Audi/M3 will fit exactly onto the MINI? Does it bend that easily?

PGT Sep 28, 2007 08:01 PM

no, I'm not sure at all. it does bend to fit the contour of the trunk. measure your roof spoiler and go by the dealer and have them pull one out. They have them for 3 series, 5 series, etc and they are paintable

minimarks Sep 28, 2007 08:32 PM

Ran down (after seeing this) and measured the trunk on my 323I and then the spoiler on the MCS and the trunk is about 7" longer than the spoiler... Do they make something like that for the Z3, might be shorter...

blaksheep67 Sep 28, 2007 08:33 PM

Wing

Maybe someone bought it and can check to see if it has the real manufactures stamp or name on it.

PGT Sep 28, 2007 08:35 PM

or....just cut it in the middle and butt the ends up together. you can even cut a slot and insert something in the middle to reinforce or glue it. Custom sized! cheap!

I just ordered one for a 3series from Autobacs. $38!

This is the site I found a really good looking wing lip for about $395 but I can't find it anymore on the site. It was way nicer and cheaper than Palo Uber Yuk:( Check it out, this company makes some really cool Bimmer and Mini stuff http://store.bimmerperformancestore.com/shared/StoreFront/default.asp?CS=bimmer&BusType=BtoC&Count1=24099367 8&Count2=158134102&CategoryID=36&Target=products.a sp

COOUUPER S, I believe that is exactly what I'm looking for. How would one go about getting in contact with bar10gril? How exactly do you know that they only made 3 of these?

send her a PM. her screen name is actually Bar10Girl... be careful of the spelling. and we know there are only 3 of these because she told us there are only 3 right now.

user 7082082 Sep 30, 2007 04:59 PM

They are making it back into production and they will be able at bimmerperformancestore.com

I do not know when but there are plenty of people interested in these.

minjae Sep 30, 2007 07:27 PM

they're up on the site.
http://store.bimmerperformancestore....RowID=524&All=
but for $400. pretty costly. id be more interested in the $38 spent that PGT got.

PGT Sep 30, 2007 07:38 PM

they look nice. for $200, I'd bite. $400 is a lot of scrilla for such a small piece of plastic

minjae Sep 30, 2007 07:50 PM

PGT so tell us how the $38 piece goes. i may end up doing the same.
wayyy cheaper alternative. of course not as nice. but it's ok. i'll still be happy

PGT Sep 30, 2007 07:53 PM

will do. I've got some two piece cyano-acrylate glue...used for model making. might have to chop it in two and shorten it...we'll see how it works out.

minjae Oct 11, 2007 07:30 PM

hey PGT. how'd the choppin go? start it yet?

PGT Oct 11, 2007 07:35 PM

I wish. I got it in a few days ago, but with a five week old at home and trying to actually get normal work done, I've done little more than pull it out of the back and testfit and say 'yup, it's too wide'. there's obviously a source out there for a narrower version...just need to figure that out and order the right size. As cheap as they are, this is a better option than cutting to fit.

the simple fix is to cut the ends off vs. the center, but the ends are 3-D curved, so I might try to work with it.

minjae Oct 11, 2007 07:46 PM

hmmm. too bad the piece can't just bend to your liking.
care to point me into the direction to buy some rear lips?
(basically asking if you know any good cheap websites..)

PGT Oct 11, 2007 07:48 PM

eBay has a ton. I asked Autbacs about the smallest one they sell and it's not small enough, so try another vendor. The E30 3 series will probably be a good candidate...the smallest BMW trunk of the ones listed.

the item bends fine...it's just too long. the one I got is 48"...I think we need 39" max.
