This car isn't running. It has a timing chain problem and possibly bent valves. The rest of the car is in good condition. Hassel Mini wants $6200 to fix it. I'm looking at various options such as parting it out, selling it to a salvage yard, or finding someone who would like to take it on as a project.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this? I'm looking for specific information, such as the names of salvage yards or dealers who handle this sort of thing.

Hi JAB - Sorry for the confusion. I posted in the Long Island Mini forum since I live in Long Island, NY.

 

How much are you looking to sell it for? What's the condition besides the motor. Miles? Pics?

 

Hi Helix - here are some details:
- 2007 Mini Cooper S
- Convenience package (Bluetooth, cruise control, keyless entry)
- 79,000 miles
- Water pump was replaced at 67,000 miles
- Overall the car is in good condition.
No accident damage - all exterior parts are intact, except for a few stone chips in the windshield. Interior is also in good condition.

I'm asking $3500. For that price the car could be parted out or repaired and the new owner would still come out ahead.
