50th Anniversary road trip

For our 50th anniversary, I planned a tour in our '15 Mini Cooper "justa". We drove from Myrtle Point OR to Port Angles WA to catch the ferry to Victoria. We stayed there two days then drove up to the top of Vancouver IS. to Port Hardy. The next morning we took the BC ferry to Prince Rupert. This is about a 18 hour ride. We spent the night there and the next day, drove east to catch highway 37 then north to the junction with 37A which goes west to Stewart BC which borders on Hyder AK so we actually drove to Alaska. This is the closest point on the map that you can drive to and be in Alaska. The amazing thing about this part of the drive is the number of glaciers one can see from the road. It is so beautiful along this route with a number of bears to be seen along the way.

The next day, we drove back to 37, back south t0 highway 16 and east to Prince George spending the night there. We then drove south to a great little town of Hope, again spending the night. The next day, we drove to Seattle to visit our children and grandchildren. We stayed 4 days then drove back home.

Total mileage was 2604 miles Our Mini (Carlotta) preformed flawlessly. Overall fuel mileage was 40.4 mpg. The 4 best things for me are the HUD display, the nav. system which was right one in all aspects, the auto wipers and the awesome torque I drove in the green mode quite a bit as the roads were really not sport mode roads. Never a problem passing for motoring up long steep grades. Not once did I think...I need more house power. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...d3661b2d5b.jpg

This car is so comfortable and just plain fun to drive. The longest day was 465 miles on our first leg. I could have easily driven further. I took delivery on Oct 5 and now have 16252 on her. Never once has it disappointed me and each day, I can't wait to jump in and go.
