Whos rear brake pads do we like? I had a problem with the calipers - maintenance - and the new rotors and pads that were installed 6,000 miles ago are shot.

Also, who carries the Harbor Freight tool kit required to turn the piston on these? I cannot find this tool on their web site.

Just an FYI...... I have a HF caliper tool, and it worked great on the fronts. It was really awkward and difficult on the rears, so I tried a big C clamp and it worked really well. Save your money and just get a big ole C clamp. Pads? I use Hawk HPS on the rear, HP+ on the front, but your results may vary.

 

I've got the Harbor Freight caliper tool also. It worked well for me front & rear. I believe the rear piston needs to be rotated while it's being compressed. With the Harbor Freight tool you can do that. Buy it from Harbor Freight.

or is it Feredo? I never remember.... they make a touch of noise on the street, but OK other than that.

I have the Ferodo 2500s and they are the best i've used so far. Not bad in the dust dept. a LITTLE squeel on the street and stop HARD when needed. I'm sticking with these from now on. My last set were the EBC green and i could get them to fade quite easily. I got my Ferodo's from Way Motorsports a NAM vendor and I thank him for the recomendation.

If you drive hard on the street and harder at the track, the best we've found so far are Porterfield R4's... a great match for Wilwood B or H compounds up front on the track, and they work well with BP-10's (or the like) for the street.

 

I used Porterfield on a few other cars with great success. So these will work well with Willwood Poly B, great!

i have run bp-20's on the front (TCE 13" bbk) w/ stock pads rear (TCE rotors) on the street and track. not noisy on the street and no fade on the track (even at sebring). the only downside for me was wear. i went through a set of front pads every track weekend. i replaced them immediately upon return from the weekend. rear pads lasted three weekends and a total of 7k miles. i'm keeping this combo for the street but changing to track only pads. i'm now running 225/40/17 hoosier r6's so i think that i can benefit from more brake torque w/out abs kicking in. i'll let you know how i like the combination of poly h's up front with porterfield r4's in the rear. these were suggested to me by both txspeedworks and TCE. next track weekend in less than two weeks...

 

I use the BP20s for the street and swap in the PolyBs at the track...with stock pads and RA1s. I personally feel the rear pads do not work in the above track combo.

I ordered R4-S pads.

Now, just gotta figure out how to exchange a warped Powerslot rotor...
