Considering getting these in 205/45/17 on a new set of aftermarket wheels. I want good overall traction, excellent high speed cornering characteristics and ability to have good traction in rain. Won't be used at all in snow or ice. Want to definiely avoid any tramlining and loud tire noise. Not planning to autocross the car.

Anyone have any thoughts on these tires, or others that could be preferable for the traits I need?

The Dunlop 9000's are one of the lighter tires out there, so that's a consideration. According to Tire Rack they are a "Max Performance" tire. Check out their Comparison Test.
The Dunlop's also have a very cool looking tread pattern, another consideration for the style crowd. It seems that many MINI owners have been enjoying Yokohama's Parada spec-2 and ES100 tires in OEM size (205/45-17). The Yoko's are both priced great and have great performance. Also, the Dunlop 9000 is available in Run-Flat!

Cheers,
Ryan

From the Tire Rack test the Yoko AVS may be best. But is there any problems with tramlining with those? That is one thing I definitely want to avoid.

Just my 2 cents....
A while back I installed a set to Toyo Proxes T1S'.
I plus sized the tires from 205/45-17 to 215/45-17.
I had 2 concerns....rubbing & tramlining.
NEITHER exists on my MCS.

I can only state that after 750 miles or so...they are....simply put....perfect!

Peace,
D

Toyo's are the best tire. The BMW guys love them, the Import Tuner crowd loves them.

I have a friend who has tried every tire in the world on the track, and the Toyo's are they only thing he will ever buy again. The T1 S proxies are the best on the market in his mind and coming from him that is a big vote of confidence in my book.
