I know that the offset and wheel bolt pattern are similar but I am not too sure about the center bore. Has anybody tried it?

 

VW's are 57.1 mm (MINIs are 56.1 mm)
so a VW wheel will fit loosely on a MINI (not recommended),
but a MINI wheel will require machining to fit on a VW.

 

OK, then put MINI hubs on the VW, then the MINI wheels will fit.

A machinist should be able to bore out 1 mm of the MINI wheel to enlarge the centerbore but then it wouldn't be so good as a MINI wheel anymore.

 

The mini wheels will work on an 80's vw if bored out. Polished holies with 10mm spacers on a MK1 would be sick.

VW wheels will work on a mini, but they will not be hubcentric. I've driven around on bbs ras from a vw with no problems.

took 20 mins per rim to grind them out with a dremel to make them fit.
