Help with Rota Sub Zero's
 

Can any one tell me if you need hub centric adapters for Rota Sub Zero wheels? If so, what size do I need to get? I just bought a set of used wheels and need to know if I have to get the rings and what size to order.:thumbsup:

Yes you need them. Not sure what the OD is on them though. If no one here can tell ya, I can measure mine.

isnt it like 72 something.... if i end up washing my car tomorrow i might take out the wheel.. ill measure it for you

I have my first track day scheduled for next Wed. and the tires and wheels should get to my house Tues. so I need to get the hub rings ASAP.

Loosen the lug nuts of one wheel. Raise the car until the tire is not under the cars weight anymore. Tighten the lug nut slowly and evenly. If the lug nuts were labeled 1-2-3-4 in a clockwise (or ccw) order for example, you would tighten the wheel in a 1-3-2-4 fashion a little at a time. Also, another tip is that whatever lug nut you are tightening, the nut can more accurately seat the wheel onto the hub by pressing the part of the tire right above the current lug nut you are working on against the car/hub.

This sounds complicated but it's not, it is a very simple process that will take 10 minutes to do if you know how to jack up your car.

The lug nuts are "countersunk" in a sense meaning that the lug nuts will center the wheel but when your wheels are spinning rapidly at freeway speed, it works if you get them tightened evenly in the way i described above if you don't have hubcentric rings. I know because I have 15" Rota's and have looked for the rings and couldn't find it, so I said screw it, I will just carefully tighten them.

PS: My experience with mechanics who tighten my wheels with pneumatic wrenches will cause the car to vibrate most especially. This is how I realized my wheels were not unbalanced all of a sudden (maybe due to fallen weights) but just b/c of the sensitive hub centering condition.

The mini hub bore is 56.1mm. Rotas subzeros can come in different hub sizes but mine are 67.1mm. So I used a centering ring of 67.1 to 56.1mm.

Please be aware that Rota Sub zeros come in various sizes for hub centric adapters.

All of these are for 4x100 pattern bolt drillings-
Rim size:
15x6.5" with either 67.1 or 73mm hub bore
16x7" with either 67.1 or 73mm hub bore
17x7.5" with either 63.35, 67.1 or 73mm hub bore
18x7.5" with either 63.35, 67.1 or 73mm hub bore

It's best to measure if you can before you buy the hub centric rings.
Rings are available in hard plastic or metal. I like metal for track use and hard plastic is OK for street use or autocross.

Any performance wheel shop can measure them for you or you can talk to the vendor selling the Rotas. The MINI will need 56.1mm hub bore to fit as mentioned.
