15" tires options

Í have a question on the 15" tire size. I know that for 15*7 wheels, I need to go for 205/55/15 tires. Can I go for 205/50/15 or 225/55/15? Does this two set up have the same diameter as 205/55/15 or smaller? I don't know if this is true, but if I go for wider tires; I can lower the side wall size by a bit? I'm a bit confuse.

Thanks in advance!

There are numerous options for 15" wheels. I personally went for 195/55-15 Toyo T1R's for my MC for the lighter weight and better effective gearing from the slightly shorter sidewally. Here are the tire diameters of some of the sizes in question:

175/65-15 - 23.9" (stock 15" size)
195/55-15 - 23.4"
205/50-15 - 23.0"
205/55-15 - 23.8"
225/50-15 - 23.9"

Any of the above sizes will work on a MINI, although the 225's might be a tight fit depending on the offset of your wheels and whether or not the car is lowered, and how much. Next time around I'll probably go for 205/50-15 Falken Azenis or Hankook Z212's, they weigh considerably more, but the increased grip would be nice.
