F'ing Pothole!!!! %$ #$%!#@$

was driving home tonight and hit a HUGE pothole. It actually hurt me and my girlfriend it was so violent.

I stopped on the side becasue I was sure there was going to be damage, had a quick look and nothing. too good to be true? yup!

I got back in the car and took off. we suddenly noticed a tick tick sound that was proportional of the speed of the car, at this point we were 4-5 blocks away from home so we decided to go there.

In the driveway, after closer inspection, I noticed that the inside of the front right wheel is really bent out of shape.:eek2:

now my question is this: what makes the ticking sound? the wheel is bend but is not rubbing against anything.

I HATE MONTREAL ROADS!!!!

Do you have web-spokes? I've seen a few posts about a clicking noise coming from them. For example:

make a police report dude

--If there were no warning signs for dip, construction or anything like that I'd call the police and file a report. The police are responsible for safety on motorways and this will not only bring it to public attention but it will also make a public record for you to file a claim against your local department of transportation.

My ex-girlfriends brother actually hit something like that and it damaged his body kit. He filed a police report and that made the state put up warning signs and added haste to repair of that strip of the road. He also got the money to repair his body kit from the state by filing a separate claim to the appropriate department.

If public roads or facilities damage your vehicle then the people responsible for its upkeep should pay for the damages.

Hope things work out for you.

In the wonderful province of Quebec, the government is not responsible for damage caused to your vehicle from bad road conditions. they actually made it illegal for people to sue them for car damage.

We probably have the worst government organisation in north america.

Then we may have the second worst. In my town it is not legal to sue the city for many things including bad road and sidewalk conditions. One deterence to folks wanting to plant trees in the sidewalk is that the tree then belongs to the public domain, but if it is damaged the property owner must repair or replace it and if someone trips on the sidewalk because the tree roots have buckled it then the property owner is at risk. As for the potholes in our town (which our current mayor is most keen to fix--he has made more calls to the city's hotline than all others combined) during the rein of our previous imperious mayor a Maserati drove over a temporary metal plate on the street that buckled and took out the underside of the car. The owner wanted to sue the city but it was illegal. Our previous mayor laughed it off in public. That mayor drove a Ferrari Testarossa when he was speaker of the state assembly so his reaction seemed odd until a local columnist revealed that the Maserati owner had supported a political rival.

Here I believe the City is libel for sidewalk problems hence a yearly program to upgrade and repair. The program revolves around the city so each neighborhood gets looked at every ten years or so. I'm not sure about potholes, I know we certainly have our share (rust belt) but there are crews out doing temporary patches all winter long. I do know they can appear overnight in this climate, so I would presume that it would have to be shown that the pothole existed and was reported, with no repair after a reasonable period of time.
