My "sport" package on the MC came with the Goodyear Eagle NCT 5's - these are supposed to be runflats (I paid to have "Performance Runflats" - it says RSC and EMT on the sides)

The weight per tire rack's post is 22.58lbs - haven't personally confirmed it. I don't see much weight difference by going to other tires - although I have noticed my ride is bumpy and stiff.

Anyone go from 16" NCT 5's to another type of tire? How's the difference?

I have the same tires....

I love them!!

They are killer in dry conditions...

We haven't had much rain in Denver lately.

I have the very same tires on my Cooper. They are very good in the wet too. Harsh ride....normal for Run-flats.

jeremy,

We tested a car that had the Yokohama AVS ES100 in a 205/45-16 size at the track, what a great tire! It's cheap (around $75 from Tire Rack) and sticky, and it is lighter than a runflat.

Runflats are heavy due to the construction, and there is weight to be asved by going to a traditional tire.

I would replace those with the Yokes after they wear out. Until then, enjoy what you've got!

My MCS came with the Dunlop S5000 runflats, which is a better tire than the Goodyear so I've heard, which is why it's on the MCS. But I do plan on switching to the Yokohama AVS ES100 or better and just carry a can of fix-a-flat once I burn these Dunlops down. If you want to keep runflats, I think the Dunlop S5000 or S3000 is the way to go.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I think I'll use these until I need some new ones, then look at what's avaialable at that time.

Unlike the MCS owners, us regular MC owners have a spare in case of flat. So keeping runflats is not a really big deal to me, I just don't want to spend the $ to replace them unless I'm going to get a significant or noticable change in handling, performance or ride.

If I was going to get a very noticeable change, it'd probably be worth the $75 per tire to get the Yokohama AVS ES100's.

Goodyear Eagle NCT 5 195/55/16's

Does anyone know what the expected mileage is on these? How about the Dunlop run flats same size? I couldn't find by searching the Forums ..

Mine rotate all the time. Especially in 1st gear with the trac control off.
