I"m a newbie here. I just bought an 05 MCS and moved from Arizona to Denver, Colorado. I know I will need snow tires. I have no idea what to buy? The tires on the car now are 205/45R 17's. Could someone suggest a tire and wheel combination. Is it okay to go to a 16inch tire and wheel for winter? I see that TireRack advertises on here. Is it easier for me to call them and have them ship whatever they recommend?

 

if you're not planning on doing a big brake kit, I would get 15" steel wheels, and winter tires. it's going to be the cheapest for you.

My vote is for 15's in the winter, especially w/ the roads here in New England. I ran 185/65 Pirelli Winter Carving on steels from TireRack last winter and the MINI was like a mountain goat.. odd analogy.. but never had an issue and the ride was very nice even on the choppy NE pavement.
