2014 R59 with R112 Rims, Wilwood and Brakes Questions

2014 R59 with R112 Rims, Wilwood and Brakes Questions

Hello everyone!
I'm looking to upgrade my brakes to Wilwood 4-piston front and 1-piston rear.

Front:

My wheels are Mini Cooper JCW 17" R112 Challenge Cross Spoke and from what I understand fit the JCW 4-piston BBK but not the GP2 6-piston BBK (without a 15mm spacer). Can I assume that the 4 piston Wilwood BBK will also clear the R112 without a spacer? I have yet to see that combination but it seems like all 4-piston calipers are about the same size.

Second question:
  • My current rear brake has 1 piston,
  • the rear brake I posted in the link above has 1 piston
  • and even the GP2 kit appears to share the same 1-piston rear caliper as the JCW kit.
Is there any advantage to using a 2-piston rear caliper or would it only have negative effects on the master cylinder?

In case you're curious I'm planning to powder coat my rims for a matte black look. I originally wanted to shop for rims but the longer I had the R112s the more I ended up enjoying them.

Although I didn't hear a reply on NAM, I wanted to post an update.

2014 R59 Roadster S

For anyone with R112 rims, Wilwood will work. My info is:
Also requires if upgrading from stock "S" brakes (MINI non JCW, non GP):
ECS was great with my shipment and without asking they even double checked that the front and rear kits would work together. I think it looks/works great. The black rotor hats are slightly visible and they make the rotor look like it's floating behind the rim. Brake fluid sold separately.

I might also point out that the 17s will also allow for the larger 13" front kit. The DP6 caliper is actually a bit more spoke friendly than the DPR model. And....given the format of the 13" kit you can get the color included in the base kit rather than paying the premium for it as well as choice of slotted or drilled and slotted rotor finish. *Note we can also supply both those options for the rear.

I'm noting that these are both 4 lug cars and will likely be viewed as pre 14 for that reason.

You can do a combo of each format: 4/1 and 6/1 starting under $1800 to the door. And for only $200 more the larger DP6 front.

Got any close up pics of the brakes and the wheels? Looks good from what I can see
