What's better 7.5 wide or -2 lbs
 

I'm narrowing my wheel choices and I want to hear from you out there that have tried a bunch of different options. I'm trying to determine if I'll get better performance from 17X7.5s or slightly (-2 lbs) lighter 17X7s.
The wheels I'm looking at are RoJa 17X7, 14.3 lbs and the Rota 17X7.5 16.5-17.5 lbs. I'll probably go with KDW2s (great reviews, cool looks) No autocross, occasional track daze, spirited driving, no snow.
I have an S with: 15%, CAI, M7 springs, RSpeed sway bar, Alta control arms, Alta SS.
Suggestions?

I'd think the difference is minor enough that you'd want to go with the wheel that looks the best and has plenty of tire options in the size you need.

I'd go for the lighter wheels. The extra 1/2" of width won't do much for ya.

Get those RoJas on the scale too - my UPS scale isn't as generous as theirs.

I'd go with the lighter wheels - 7" will work fine for a 215 tire, and that's as wide as you can go without having clearance issues anyway.

7" and -2lbs would be my choice as well. :smile:

The extra half inch of width will give you slightly better turn in with the same size tire. That being said, I'd but lots of money on the line that you wouldn't be able to tell any difference at all between the two. Just get whichever one you like the looks of more.

For your needs and set up I'd prioritize:
Looks first. which ever you like best- if equal then choose the 17x7 and lighter rims.
Use 215/45-17 tires if you can first choice and 205/45-17 second choice.:grin:
