215/45/18 Tires on Stock 18" Rims
 

Bottom Line Up Front: Will a 215/45/18 tire fit my stock 2018 F56 JCW rims? The car has Sport suspension, not the DDC.

Background: I was driving to SoCal from ABQ and hit a tire killing pothole. Within 5-10 seconds, I started to feel vibrations. I pulled over and inspected the front right tire and saw the tire innards trying desperately to escape the rubber confines of it's run-flat carcass. I had to turn around and limp the 130 miles back to the Q. I was eventually going to buy some NM RSe52 18" rims and some 215/45/18 non-run-flats. My hand is forced at this point with the damaged tire, so want to buy a set of non-run-flats now. Will the fit the 7 inch wide stock rims (I know they will fit the 8 inch wide NM wheels)?

Hoping to get a quick answer since I need to get the car back on the road ASAP.

"Gus" at Tirerack confirmed the tire will fit the rim, now I just need to confirm that I WILL NOT need any spacers. What say you?

If you are putting it on the factory rims you should be good to go.

I must have hit a pothole as well and looks like I took some damage to the wheel and the tire.

My main question is if this wheel can be repaired and what kind of shop actually does that?
I can find a new wheel for $285 on pelican parts but if that is not necessary the I'd like to save some $$

The tire has low tread on it so it would have lasted me a few more months but I'll see if I can get a pro-rated reimbursement for it since the sidewall cracked.

There are wheel repair shops. You should call some tire places and ask. That looks repairable, might cost you $100. I don't think they are going to pro rate your tire since it was damaged by a pothole unless you have road hazard coverage.

I went to the discount tire place that I typically go to for some advice. The guy there told me that repairing the wheel could cost around $175 plus when aluminum is re-heated it will lose its strength and has chances of completely cracking. (He said not always happen but it could). I push my car to its limits and did not want to risk it so I found Pelican Parts selling the wheel for $285 with shipping brand new and ordered one. I could have saved some money but don't want to be unsafe as well. He also said the tire is fine as long as the fibers or threads are not showing and I don't need to replace it.
Any thoughts? Was I given he right advice?

It's always better to buy new then repair if you can afford to. If you feel you don't want to take a risk of repairing it, then you made the right decision for you.

We were talking about the wheel, not the tire.

215 fit stock 18"
And also 18x8, mine is lowered with H/R Sport and had no issues, just a little rubbing in very very hard spirited driving with bumpy roads
I attached a picture with stock rims and later changed to 18x8

Hi Andrea is your Vorsteiner wheels sticking out of the car a bit with the set up that you have ? Because I have the same setup 18x8 +45 and mine are sticking out of the car a little thinking of switching to something like yours my tires are 215/40/18
