Want To Run Wider Wheels on 2012 JCW R56
I know there are already many forums on what size wheels fit and what people recommend, but nothing I can find is specifically what I want.
What I am trying to figure out is how wide of a wheel can I go, without any cutting fenders and little to no rubbing, to just get the wheels to poke out of the fenders a little. I have a 2012 MC JCW R56 and I know the stock wheels on a JCW R56 is 17x7. I don't want to change the diameter of the wheel, just the width, they are a bit skinny in my opinion and personally, it would look better wider. I have stock suspension and brakes that come on it. I don't know if 17x8 is wide enough and more importantly, will it fit? I don't fully understand wheel/tire sizing and I don't know what offset will fit on the Mini too or if it is even possible to do what I want. If anyone understands and has more knowledge I would appreciate your help. Thank you.

Stock rims are 17x7 with a +48 offset
Stock tire size is 205/45-17
Go to this site to compare fitment with what you would like to get:
https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/
That site requires that you take some measurements of your car, and the current wheel-tire fitment, but I think its the best for comparing upgrades. The only variable it doesn't account for are changes in alignment specs.
That all being said, if you only want a wider look, you can step up to a 215/45-17 tire size and add some 8-10mm spacers pretty easily, and keep your stock wheels. That would probably be the least expensive option. There isn't a ton of room inside the Mini wheel wells for wider wheels without adjusting or modifying something. But, it doesn't take much to improve the handling, either.
