What suspension? If OEM suspension then clearance is better but wheel and tire will be very wide.

What tire size were you going to use with 17x9 rim? Stretch fit narrow tire?

Compared to OEM 17x7 et48 your wheels will fit 2.4mm closer to the inner suspension and poke out 48.4mm more or almost 2 inches.

The 17x9 wheels and wide tires will cost more and be heavy so performance may not be as good

Hi thanks for the reply I was not going to stretch. I'm on Coilovers . Plus I'm ditching the run flats so should be lighter but if I'm going to run in to issues. What size would you recommend as my wheels are in the arch and would like a flush look with out using spacers thanks

Stick with the 7" width.

Being on coilovers you have some suspension drop- how much?

17x9" wheels poke out a lot, you're not going to be flush unless you use lots of negative camber to tilt the tire shoulder back in under the fender.

Runflats are heavy but so are 9" wide rims most of the time.

There aren't many good tire sizes for 17x9" wheels and can tuck under the MINI's fenders with lowered suspension. It's going to be very tight, that's why some owners are using stretch fit and lots of negative camber.
