Advanti dst storm s1 17"
Anyone running these? Tire rack shows them at 14.1lbs and $184/each. Not too shabby! The 17x7 35mm offset should work ok on my gen 1 JCW, right? What about with the megan Euro coilovers I'll be installing soon? I plan to run at max height.
I have sparco asseto gara (17x7 37mm) now with 225's blizzaks and I do get a little rubbing in the back (with stock suspension) if I have a car full of people and go over a bump. I plan to go back to 205's if I get the Advanti's.

DST Storm looks fine
17x7" comes in black painted finish, 40mm offset at 14 lbs. or 35mm offset at 14.1 lbs at $184 each. 17x8" et 35 or 45mm cost and weighs more
Also available in Hyper Silver finish
Construction is one piece gravity cast (see Flow form)
https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech....jsp?techid=90
The price is good for low weight wheel. This can mean the density of the metal is not as much, so potentially strength is not as good as a forged wheel. So just be careful and not hit curbs or potholes. There is always the chance of stress over time on the wheels so look for any small cracks in the spokes or barrel over time when you wash the wheels.
Once a year I like to take the wheels off the car and wash them very carefully and inspect for any problems when using light wheels, it's not difficult to damage a light wheel when used for track or street duty.

DST is Advanti’s flow formed process to make the wheel stronger, closer to forged, than a gravity cast wheel. http://www.advantiwheel.com/advanti-dst/
This was one of the wheels I was considering before picking up some used OZ’s.

Cool. Looks like I found my next wheel.. 17x7 with the Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Spec or the Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R 205/45-17.. havent decided yet. the Dunlops are 1lbs lighter, but the Potenzas are a newer version of the dunlop I heard..
minihune, do you have an opinion on these two choices?
Direzza at 215/40-17 or re-71r at 205/45-17
I wont track the car, but I used to track my vette quite a lot. I want an aggressive street setup and dont care about noise, treadwear, hydroplaning. I want to choose the tire that has the best turn in responsiveness/least about of corner setup, thats why I'm considering the 40 series Direzza, but I'm a little worried about the added 2lbs per tire weight, increased rolling resistance and clearance issues that may arise with the 215 in conjunction with the lowering coilovers that are coming (megan eu). I am using 225/45 blizzaks now and I do rub occasionally on stock S suspension.
I like what I'm reading about the re-71, everything I've read says its a better tire, but they dont offer an appropriate 40 series tire. I'm leaning towards the re-71 205/45-17 ATM. I think they might be a bit more lively/fun with a better 0-60 time and no risk of fitment. I am not sure if the slightly larger contact patch on the ZII offsets the 2lbs increased weight per wheel.

I see you got Bridgestone RE71R for your tires, how do you like them? 205/45-17 is fine. If you were tracking the car then 215/40-17 is a nice size for stiffer sidewall and wider treadwidth but it's not a big deal for street use. On bad roads the stiffer sidewall is jarring and noisy for daily use.
Dunlop came out with Direzza ZIII and is a decent tire, someday ZIII Star Spec will arrive if it follows past pattern of tire models.

Chinese made wheels can be OK, even US built forged wheels can crack and fail under use. Rule of thumb is stress from track use or rolling over imperfect roads can wear out the metal over time. If you have bad roads you should be wary and careful. If you have a track with course edges that are not even with runoff area then be careful if a tire goes off the course.

I will most likely be purchasing these wheels. my car is also red so your pictures help out a lot on the visual. all my other set of wheels are Chinese or made in japan, if tire rack sells them they should be okay. the team dynamic wheels are a bit more in price, cheapest I have prices these is 175 a wheel. thanks, for the pic again!
