Costco Tires Public Service Announcement

No I don't work for Costco. Bought some Bridgestones online, $70 off and 1 cent per tire install. Out the door about $140 less than anywhere else. Plus you get about $10 rebate at the end of the year on your Costco account.

My daughter recently bought tires from Costco for her Prius. She got a flat and they said they could fix it in a week. A week to fix a flat?

That sounds odd. I've seen them busy but putting a flat repair off for more than a few hours is unacceptable. Maybe they don't have the trained personnel at that warehouse to handle a proper flat repair. She should call to the nearest other Costco if you have one within a reasonable difference or at least ask them whats up with the delay.

If that happened to me I could take it to Les Schwab and they would either charge me $14 or give it to me for free as they have done in the past. However they want $200 more for a set of the tires I bought which is off base.

I bought tires there years ago but I had to take them the wheels off the car because it was a non-original size. I was upgrading my old G-Body from 14" wheels to 15" wheels and they said "No, it's not the size on the car."

OK...

Yeah they are pretty much by the rule book. If you have a car with OEM run-flats and no spare they aren't going to install non RF tires for you.

I'm not marrying them, just getting a deal on a set of tires.

this is so true as we have had people actually call us from the Costco waiting area and order a spare in order to get them to put non runflats on.

If the place won't let me buy what I want without jumping through hoops, they just don't want and will not get my business. What would they say if you wanted to go with 215's instead of the 205's that the book calls for? My Vette had 245's all around originally, but for years I've been running 285 front and 315 rears. I guess I'd need a note from the NTSB for COSTCO to replace my tires.

Can't really blame a chain shop for being careful about the sizes. To the original topic, costco is only good for tires if you catch a free install deal. They hit you for like $35 a corner installation on a normal day.

I'm on my second set of Pilot Super Sports 215/45-17s from Costco. No hassles about non-RF or size, and the installer who had to "road test" the car came back with a big grin on his face. They also honored the Michelin 30K treadwear warranty and replaced the tire that I had to put 4 dynaplugs in when I got a big screw in it, no hassles. Maybe it depends on what state you're in.

I didn't either, it was just a good deal on tires. Once I brought them wheels with no car they installed what I wanted no questions asked. That only works if you have multiple sets of wheels...

That's just silly.

They'd say no.

I guess we can safely say it isn't Costco stretching tires for kids these days....

What tires did you order?

I got same $70 off plus 1 cent installation/balance/5 years road hazard.
Bridgestones Se04 Pole positions to replace these Pirelli runflats.
Will arrive Friday.

Had them on my 2013 R56, and loved them.

They are so busy, the earliest appointment is the 22nd. Unless I leave the car on any given day, for the whole day, and hope they can get me in.

I freely admit at this point that the creation of this thread was the start of something bad. COSTCO tire depart sucks the life out of you and it isn't worth the cash savings. They had my tires in for days but never notified me. Next appointment is weeks away and waiting for install is 3+ hours.

I had them refund the money and went shopping. Local tire location of Les Schwab was over $800 for the same tires that Costco had for $542. Another local place was about $700 but really wanted the biz and dropped it to $620. I'd rather pay more and not be so pissed off at a company.

Also had a painful online purchase of Itunes cards with them yesterday and wasted an hour getting it right.

COSTCO sucks!

I've always had good service at the Goodyear Service Centers. But, you can only buy, Goodyear, Dunlop, Kelly/Springfield tires from them. They've always ordered the tires I wanted and had them unstuck within a couple of days and the one time the size didn't fit they exchanged them without any hassle. I won't deal with a company that tells me what I need and won't let me make the decisions concerning My car. Added bonus for me, since I retired from GT&R, I get discount coupons every year. Still have one left for 20% off if anyone's interested.

I bought tires there before but the service time wait is awful in my opinion.
For flat repair I go to the little Mexican tire shop down the street were I'm not told to go shopping in the store and come back in hours!

I at first decided to get a refund via phone, but the CS wait was 98 minutes.
If they don't step up Friday with my appt, Ill make them refund me there.

I guess the Costco in Buford GA missed the memo about not installing non-runflats on cars that came with run flats on them. I do not have a spare and I have the normal Michelin tires. I have a can of fix-a-flat and AAA if I get a flat.

I've always had pretty good experiences at the Costco here in Baltimore, they're pretty fast and seem to be on the ball. Usually customer service sucks in Baltimore so it's actually refreshing when someplace is decent and doesn't give the usually "exasperated sigh" when you ask a question. I got the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ but they didn't have them in stock, so I think they came in around 5-6 days or so.

I showed up 1/2 hour early for my appt, and they started immediately.
Asked if I had a spare, said yes, and never checked.
Im just pissed about them throwing away my valve stem caps, and replacing them with green ones!!
