Kosei K1 + ST BBK = No worky

I'm bummed. It appears to me, after taking measurements and mounting the ST caliper, the Stoptech BBK will require a very large spacer to work with the Kosei K1 racing wheels. Perhaps as much as 13mm / 1/2 inch. I can't see spacing the wheels out that much. Not a good thing. And I don't really want to throw more money at this project. I installed the wheels and tires only a couple of months ago.

Options. Different wheels that will probably need spacers anyway, or a different BBK kit. Now I have to decide how much a BBK is worth to me.

What are the Kosei's vital statistics? Are they 7 or 7.5 wide, and what is the offset?

I know Stoptechs calipers are extremely wide but a 13mm spacer seems insane. Especially considering that the K1 are known for their great brake clearance.

What offset are you running?

If he has stoptech big brakes then most likely these will be Kosei K1 racing
17x7.5" with offset +45mm

There is Kosei K1 racing 16x7.5" but that won't fit big brakes.

the K1's are typically 7.5 wide ET45

Nothing new that the StopTech BBK needs HEEEUUUGE spacers to work on just about any and all wheels.

sorry, good luck!

I was going to suggest that the spacers are probably the cheapest compromise and worth a try, but I had no idea those wheels might be 7.5 w/ a +45 offset. It'll depend in part on your tire size/profile, but I can't imagine those rims will fit inside the wheel well w/ a 13mm spacer.

Yep, 'dems the stats. It all made sense when I chose those wheels. No problems with rubbing using 215 tires.

That is a problem, as would be the steering geometry, et al.. Damn, and just when I thought I knew everything! LOL. Did I miss something on the forum about the ST caliper width? In red, they did look sweet mounted up. Oh well, ya live and learn.

Looks like SSR Comps may be the way to go, plus a small spacer. Sell the Koseis. Or I may just sell the ST kit and do something else.

Any other option? How about Brembo or? Is there any BB kit that will work with the Kosei wheels?

Check out this link for more info on Stop Tech fitment: http://www.zeckhausen.com/mini_products.htm

I ran the Stop Techs with spacers on my OZ Chrono Evos for some time, believe they were 15MM. It's fairly common knowledge that most BBK's for the MINI require spacers for the majority of wheels. I believe Tar-ox makes a kit that will fit 16" wheels w/o spacers.
