HRE 540R's Gunmetal w/ Polished Lips

Well, I got them about a month ago, but just finally took a picture. There are too many cars near me, so I only got one picture for today. I know everyone thinks 19's are too big, but I think they are just right!

bonz Jun 9, 2004 03:34 PM

:eek2: Nice Job, they look nice & expensive. How is ride?

rocman Jun 9, 2004 03:38 PM

Excellent! They run sooo smooth and very stock like, except for the improved response. They rub the inner plastic fender splash guards a little, but I can live with it.

d6-mcs Jun 9, 2004 06:21 PM

that car looks awesome

dandp Jun 9, 2004 06:24 PM

coilovers next...if you haven't done so already.

d6-mcs Jun 9, 2004 06:44 PM

thank god some that like coil overs

rocman Jun 9, 2004 07:10 PM

Already have H&R coilovers, but havenot installed them yet. How hard are they to install? I am pretty good with DIY's. I also got a Borla Exhaust, Alta SSK, Air Diverter w/ Spray, and I am going to look for a good BBK. I also have the Hamann Front lip, just got to paint it.

dandp Jun 9, 2004 07:15 PM

Can't tell you how hard they are to install, all I can tell you is that the best MCS I have seen was slammed on H&R's. Looked fantastic.

Nice to see another MINI with HRE's...I believe there is another that was on this site. Get some closeups of those wheels.

d6-mcs Jun 9, 2004 07:16 PM

not hard i believe simply bolt in

RLmini Jun 9, 2004 07:27 PM

Wow! It was love at first sight when I saw those wheels. I quickly searched the net for prices. Holly Cow is that the price for just one?!!

dandp Jun 9, 2004 07:29 PM

HRE's are more or less bespoke wheels. 3 piece, high quality materials & finish. You get what you pay for....

ColoradoMark Jun 9, 2004 07:32 PM

I watched my Leda coilovers be installed. It took a good wrench all day to put in the coilovers, camber plates, lower control arms and end links. I think I could have done it, until it got to the corner weighting/alignment part - then I was glad to have someone with experience and the right equipment.

Oh, BTW, good choice on wheels - HRE's are very nice!

rocman Jun 9, 2004 08:30 PM

Thanks guys! I got them through a hook-up and paid $4300 out the door with the tires. The color matches the car almost perfectly! I couldn't be happier. I might take the coilovers to someone. Does anyone know or recommend someone in the Southern California area?

goin440 Jun 10, 2004 06:55 PM

$4300 ea. ?

ZAMIRZ Jun 10, 2004 07:01 PM

The wheels look great, congratulations, you have great taste. Once you put the coilovers on, take some nice pictures  BTW, just noticed you need someone to install the coilovers. I can give you a helping hand if you'd like.

goin440, out the door w/tires. That's for a full set.

rocman Jun 10, 2004 08:00 PM

Like ZAMIRZ said, that was for the set. HRE's are expensive, but not that expensive. I have them on most of my cars. Looking to buy another set for my M3, but have not decided which set yet.

Thanks for the offer, and I may take you up on it. We are in the process of buying a new house, so I will wait until that is done.

Steves Auto Clinic in North Hills 818 891 6109 has done many suspension upgrades on a variety of cars. He did my Kw's and then switched those out for my Leda's a month ago.He is very familiar with all types of sway bars, adjustable control arms and camber plates as wel. Excellant work and he has a 4 wheel alignment machine to set everything back up once its installed.

H&R'sn 19" LOOK GREAT!!!
How is the ride on those low profile tires?
And what are "coilovers"?
I checked out the price $4200 and would look great on my new Cabrio.
Please provide any thoughts why I shouldn't purchase them.

Storer Jun 11, 2004 07:30 AM

Bling Bling!!!

The ride is just like stock or better. Steering response has also improved. Did you find 19" HRE's for $4200 with tires? If so, that is a Smoking deal and you should jump on it. The H&R Coilovers are the Springs and shocks in one unit that can be adjusted to raise or lower the car to your preference. There are some cheaper coilovers out there that do not have shocks builtin, but I do not think they make them for Mini's. They are great because you can custom tailor the amount of the drop to your specific needs. I got mine for like $850 or so on Ebay.

I WISH JUST THE RIMS........6-8 weeks wait.
Can't you remove the 'rubbing' with an application of a heat gun?
My friend did.

What size tires are you running with those rims? Also what offset?

Thanks in advance

I'll check it. The car is in the garage, under a car cover right now. It still has only 300 miles on it!
