April 2013 -what are your favorite tires?

I provided a link to the source which is Michelin. The confusion may arise from the fact that many people confuse winter/all-season with wet handling. Summer tires often have excellent wet weather handling.
"Bi-compound delivers excellent dry braking using LeMans-inspired compound on the outer shoulder and the latest generation of wet-oriented elastomers on the inner portion of the tread."
Here is the link again:

These are indeed summer tires, not to be confused with (suck in)-all-season's, or winter tires. If you can't afford 2 sets of wheels and live in a cold climate, these tires will get scary in the winter and will be useless in the snow. In the summer - they are FANTASTIC!
I would have gladly put them on my MCS was I not going back to 16" wheels (long story). As PSS's are not available in 16" sizes, my choice for ultimate summer tire was between Bridgestone RE-11a's and Hankook RS-3's. The latter went on sale @TireRack for $120/each, so I got them.
First impression of RS'3s after a few hundred miles (not autoX yet):
- they are about 1" winder in 225-50-16 size then the previous 225mm tires they replaced (no rubbing on stock 16x6.5" wheels, but figured I will disclose)
- they are very good in the dry, no wet experience yet
- they are VERY stiff. Definitely stiffer then the RE-11s they replaced!
YMMV

Tire life is the thing I don't worry about, which is good because our tires don't last long.
My favorite summer street tire is the Conti DW, very quiet and comfortable and grippy. It looks like we'll only get about 20,000 miles off them.
My favorite all season tire is the Conti DWS, also very quiet an comfortable, not quite as grippy. Its warranted for 50,000 miles, but it looks like we'll only get about 21,000 miles on them.
My favorite no holes barred performance tire is the Bridgestone RE-11. Not terribly comfortable and only lasts 6 track days or 12 autocross.

Another wear data point on RE-11s: 15,000 miles and 1 autocross season (10 events). They probably would have lasted at least 20K miles w/out the additional autoX wear.
Re-11a's are supposed to be even better, but still not available in the desires sizes.
Hankook RS-3's might actually be an even better autoX/DE tire. Ask me in 3 weeks ;-)

What size, what are your current tires, do you want summer or all-seasons?
I like dedicated summer and winter tires over all-seasons, and currently just put on
a set of Continental Extremecontact DW tires which are surprisingly good in the dry,
fantastic in the wet, with good comfort and wear characteristics.

Good choice Minian! I too just put some of the Michelin Pilot Sports on and what a difference from the Yokahama S Drives I was running! Quiet, firm in corners, straight tracking, and reassuring in the rain.
Read a bunch of reviews on many websites and decided to go with these, am very glad, was worth the extra $25 per tire compared to the couple of other contenders.
