I am planning to wrap 215/40/17's on a set of S-lites that I am
hoping to be able to obtain in the next couple of days. I have
two sources right now.

Anyway, I know the s-lites are even heavier than my R90's but
like the design and would like to wrap some summer non-runflats
on them for fun.

Anyone know the weight of the ES100 or Spec2's in the 215/40/17
size? I might go Falkens, not sure yet.

no big hurry, but if you know, please let me know.

Thanks.

Ken,

There is something very, very wrong with being concerned over tire weight when you'll be running S-lites! hehehe

On a less sarcastic note, you might be able to find the info on the tirerack website checking under "Specs" for each tire. Hope this helps...

marty- hahaha, yah, I know...but there's not much other wheels that I like
out there for the look I am going for. Its either too ricy, or super expensive, or
wrong offset.

thanks for the info at tirerack. will check it out!

Ken,

Actually there's no weight info there, but try contacting Alex at the TireRack. He's always been very helpful to us MINI folks!

I don't know if edgeracing stocks the spec 2 but they list the ES100. Toyo tires are pretty light. I think the T1-S is just under 20lbs for 215/45/17.

found that es100 weighs 23.1Lbs and the Toyos are 20.1 lbs. (215/45/17)

meanboy- you're right, the T1's are probably the lightest, BUT hardest to
get a hold of around my area unless special ordered.

marty- yah, I was looking all over Tirerack, no weight info. hummm...

As obie would say...Luke, use the Internet!

kenchan Apr 15, 2004 11:14 AM

yah, I kinda like to get tires locally unless ordered as a set from the Tirerack.

meanboy Apr 15, 2004 11:21 AM

That's cool. I've never ordered from the tirerack but I will if they have what I need.

So they should stock Toyos..and soon!

i was told by someone at the tire rack that they would not even sell me 215/40 17 for the cooper s. is this a viable tire option for a 17 x7 rim
cheers,jon

215/40 meets gross axel weight requirments, but I would not advise it, as you give up reserve of about 80 lbs a corner - Wich is no biggie, if you dont drive the car!
