Agree, good price for the quality. They're definitely up there with some of the other top of the line wheels I've owned. For as light as they are they're tough as nails and the finish can take a beating. 6+ months and I'm still loving mine every bit as much as the day I got them.

 

Anybody have pics of the silver with silver headlights? Black looks great in Tackleberry with black headlights but I'm not sure I want to joey/replace them to match.

thanks guys. its good to get some feedback on the quality from people who have had them longer than just putting them on. i was concerned about the durability with a wheel so light. guess in just guna have to save a little extra and get the new ones. im also curious if a 225/45r17 would fit without rubbing.

 

225/45/17 would end up similar to 215/45/17 with 5mm spacers but it would have 5mm less clearance inside. Furthermore, the tires are taller too. If you lower, it is likely to rub else you may still be able to get away with it if stock height. However, I am also trying to find out whether will it rub the fender when full load.

 

yea i understand. i am lowered somewhere between 1.2" - 1.5". dont want to stray too far off topic on the wheel thread, but i guess ill just have to try it. luckily i work as a technician at a tire shop, and i see how the salespeople bend over backwards for customers who are not satisfied, so i may just abuse the system, buy 2 for the front, and if they rub, they'll have to take them back :] i really wish they had 225/40r17 in a more common brand other than track tires. everything would be solved haha.

 

Micro Image in CA sells the wheels at $220 a piece if you wanna save some dough. :D Reasonably priced tires too if you need a set.

I shopped these wheels and the best price I found was $259 but Micro Image is still discounting to $220. Jeff was very knowledgeable and helpful. I wound up buying a set of used Volk Racing TE37 forged wheels - 15.0 lbs for a 17x7.5 - $800 for a set of four - I scored! The wheels had some rash, but I live 1/4 mile down a gravel road so I was ok with that. Along with a new set of Michelin PSS 215/45ZR17 and my Mini is handling amazing!!

I hadn't seen this thread before. We've had our RSe05s for about a year now. Easily over a hundred auto-x runs on them and some street miles. Never had any issues and they're light. It's hard to find 17s in a 4x100 bolt pattern that are wider than 7". My only complaint is that you need a special "wheel socket" as a regular old impact socket is too fat to fit into the wheel stud holes.

We run a 235/40/17. It rubbed a bit on the fender liners when we initially put them on but after some alignment tweaks and some street miles everything is good now. We run a 5mm spacer in the front.

Thinking about picking these up for my r59. I'm lowered on nm springs. Should I go with 215/45/17 or will that rub?

 

I had the RSe05 on my '12 JCW Coupe. It was on NM springs. Go with 215/45/17. It's perfect! No rubbing at all and it'll fill the space just right.

Oh and I didn't need a special socket at all. In fact I just grabbed a long impact socket from Lowes.

 

215/45-17 is what I ran on mine. As a matter of fact, my matte black RSe05 wheels are for sale. E-mail me if you are interested.
