After much research I had installed Continental ExtremeContact DWS's replacing the factory installed runflats. The first think that struck me was how much quieter the ride was... or how loud the stock runflats are.

Now everyone at the tire center were a little shocked that the car said it wants 39psi in each tire... is that right?

Are you saying you looked on the Door Jam (driver's side) and it read 39 psi for your MINI?

If so then you are right, if not refer to your owners manual.

Most MINIs have 32-34 psi cold for tire pressure on the door jam.

Yep, the sticker in the door jam says 39psi. Never had a car with such a high air requirement.

Then you are correct.

39 psi is higher than many other cars, but within range of what other cars will run.

I have run 37-38 psi with my 2003 MINI for less rolling resistance and it works but is a little rougher riding.

I know some Nissans with runflats will have 29 psi as recommended pressure.
That's due to a very stiff and low sidewall.

39psi may have been for the runflats.....

I have these tires as well, and run them about 35psi on my Clubman, however a little harder won't hurt as long as you don't start getting unusual wear.

Some people like them al little harder anyway, as they say it tightens up the handling a bit as well.

Be sure and rotate them every 5K or so.

39 psi should be OK for both non runflats and runflats. Firmer riding with 39 than with slightly lower pressures, I'd not go too far low. 37-38 psi OK but 39-40+ with stock tires likely a good choice.

I have the conti DWS and find them a little soft and vague. So I run them between 38-40 psi and it firms them up nicely improving turn in.

Btw, my door jam info recommends 38 psi for tires on 17" rims.

fwiw, my 2008 says 33 psi on the door jamb sticker for the stock 16" tires. I have the Conti DWS on mine right now and I'm running 35.

What size did you go with in the DWS................. were you able to stay close to oem diameter?
