Don't buy EBS Red!

I was told by EBC that these pads should not be used on the track. I have only 2k miles on them, bought the end of march, normal street driving and installed by a mechanic, I took them to an autocross event 1 day, look at the picks. I emailed Ebc and they said that in an autocross my pads got up over 1200 degrees and there is nothing they can do for the pad wear because they are street pads. I think this is absolutely ridiculous and defiantly know that I will never buy a product from EBC again.

They told you not to use them on a track.

You used them in autocross... equivalent to a track.

What did you expect?!

they told me this after I sent in the pics and they said they couldn't help me, when I bought the brakes I was informed these would be a good set of pads for the occasional autocross and street driving, I'm not on Road America its 1 lap on a flat small 1.5 mile track, same as a parking lot just no cones

Ahh got it. Didn't realize they'd told you that after the fact.

I cooked a set of EBC reds on the first day after a light bedding process. It was during an AutoX session, morning only about 4 runs but intense.

I ran them for 3/4 of a year without problems but the edge cracking and edge burn bothered me. I thought they would hold up better due to the various websites which states usage as the OP noted above.

I replaced them in April with another set of EBC reds, I will have to check them in a day or so, I'm pretty happy with them. No AutoX or casual lapping days on this set.

I will probably go back to CarboTec for lapping days and AutoX, XP10 in front. My preference, you just have to warm them fast for AutoX. :)

old81 - looks like we are in the same boat, im going to get a new set if i go out again but ill keep these on for the street because they are paid for lol

Stoptech street performance pads are great and dirt cheap. Good bite, moderate dust, no noise. They can take a little heat.

1200 degrees from auto-x is hilarious.

EBC is full of it, they should stand for their product. To get 1200 degrees at an auto-x seems highly unlikely.
