Any Rubbing?
I've just ordered this wheel set-up, except with a 215/45-17 tire set. Did you have any problems with rubbing? Im still running stock suspension, do you think they'll fit?
Wheel standard spec?
I'm new to mini and to this forum so forgive me if this has been discussed in length elsewhere . . .
We just ordered a Cooper S Roadster and we got the standards wheels.
I'm not crazy about them and plan to use those with winter tires.
So I'm looking to get a set of wheels to mount summer tires on them.
To start can anyone tells me the standard wheel spec of 2nd gen minis?
I gathered:
4x100
ET ? I'm not sure
Wheel width 7" (?)
Tires: 195/55/16, 205/45/17, and 205/40/18
I think I plan to get 18" and I'm not sure what wheel width, tire width, and offset fit comfortably.
I'll be driving it every weekend but it's going to be mostly my wife's daily car so I'm not looking for anything aggressive what so ever but I'd like to know the possible range of offset and width for a casual but sharp setup.
End then when all is set and done I'll post some pics!!!

As a daily driver you may not want 18 inch wheels and tires. They ride stiff and are subject to more wheel and tire damage due to the sidewall height. More comfort would be achieved with 16 inch wheels and tires. If you go to tirerack they automatically show the proper offset and OEM tire size if you view 16, 17, or 18 inch wheels.
Oh, thank you for pointing out my mistake. I actually did not mean to write that I would get 18" wheels but rather 17" (up from the 16" that comes with the car)
I don't know I can trust tire rack to give me the proper wheel offset...
So I think the OEM 16" and 17" wheels comes in 7" wide. Am I right?
Also what the hub center bore diameter? Are wheels hub-centric on Coopers?
It's interesting that mini website isn't very explicit on this level of details.
I would consider going wider on the wheels but I can't really get a feel for it unless I know the OEM standard spec.
I'll keep searching. I'm sure I should find the answer somewhere :p
(I appologies for these question but we don't have the car yet. I'm trying to get new wheels before it is delivered to us)
thx

We have a North American Motoring representative at Tirerack. His name is Alex and he knows everything about Mini Cooper wheels and tires. They are most professional and ethical and knowledgeable. No fears.....they are the best as is Alex. They can provide hubcentric rings for anything not 56.1. I have ASA wheels with centering rings and there are no issues or problems. I increased from 15 inch to 17's. .....175/65/15 to 205/45/17. The oem standard size for 17's.
NICE!
I had these on my MINI a few years ago. Very VERY good looking wheels. You're lucky you chanced upon a fresh set. I got mine from Japan with gutter marks so I had them repainted.

lol. I don't know, we shall see later this year. If things drop into place...
Thanks! They weren't in the most perfect condition, but I did the best possible to maintain the finish. I had bronze before on my BMW, so I'm glad I was able to find these in their original bronze finish for my MINI.

Thank you all for the information!
So what's the OE wheel offset?
Also everyone seems to be running 205 tires width regardless of the wheel width... Is it because anything else would rub? Or is it because of wheel diameter/vs side wall ratio?
I'll PM Alex from tire rack I guess since it's the first time I'll have pressure sensors and I don't know what the deal is here with those and aftermarket wheels yet...
@ RedAndBlackMiniS: I like those white wheels by the way. Not what I'm looking for but they look great on the car.

I just ordered some Borbet BS4 in 16". I don't see much talk if them but they are the same as the JCW Challenger wheels. The wheels I had never really grew on me. They were Drag DR9's. I hope I like these.
