Mini Cooper 18" 18x7 ET40 wheels. Are they roadworthy?

Hi,

I've just picked up a set of wheels for my Mini Cooper, 2007 R56.
The wheels are R113 replica wheels, 18"x7" et40.

Before getting tyres I've fitted them to my car to double check the spacing.
At this point I'm not entirely confident that they'll sit within the guard when the tyre's fitted.

Roadworthy in Australia states that the wheels aren't to protrude the wheel arches, so before getting tires etc, it's worth triple checking this.

Does anyone have experience with wheels of this dimension? Do they protrude the wheel arches? Of course as it's still on jacks there's a chance when properly fitted and under weight it will line up, but I need to be 100%.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

I ran Mille Miglia 18x7 et40 wheels on my mini with no problems on my 2008 cooper s. The tire tucks under the black arches under compression with out issue with 215/35/18 and 215/40/18.

I ran 18x7.5 ET42 on my Cooper S no probs fitting inside the edges of the guards - from memory, even in stock form there is some camber to bring things under the edge

Thanks guys, the pics and info are really helpful!
I'm confident enough now to go ahead and fit the wheels.

Just quickly regarding tires, J_D how are your 215/40s? Is the spacing with them all good? I'm running stock suspension.
