Where are you rubbing? Front or Rear, both?

Is it due to the alignment or causing your alignment to be out of wack?

Looks great RatRacer ..glad to see it worked out.

...really like that 2nd pic, showing how nice & wide & meaty the tires are.

..I'm definitely going a bit wider on my next wheel/tire set up.

Jealous of R56 owners and their wider fitment possibilities.

I rub as i come off interstate bridges that need repair, or over pot holes. The tire rubs the wheel well up front. Out back it rubs on the outer tip of the contact patch at little bit. I have to adjust the camber on the rear every now and then. So i'm sure its throwing off the other alignment parameters.

I'm not sure how much of an alignent will fix it. Just a really wide tire(but they sure are fun!!) I have a fair amout of oversteer. I'm gonna try a 225 next.

There are a few choices:

Get a pretty aggressive rear camber to tuck the wheel under the rim. Something like -1.8 is still within spec. Just know tire wear can be compromised.

Rent a fender roller and roll it out a little to see if that will give you more clearance.

Lift the rear a little with a spacer (1/8 inch perhaps) and some longer bolts.

Get narrower tires as you suggest.

Or q combination of all of the above.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I've also thought about stiffening up my koni struts in the rear bc i get a bouncy effect when i hit a drop on pavement that causes the majority of rub in the rear. The front needs camber plates.

Its already a rough ride on the crappy roads around here so its a last resort.

Best thing I ever did was get some ASTs with Vorshlag camber plates. I have the GTS race version with really stiff springs but it is still tons better than my previous suspensions including the OEM sport suspension. You can get a street version with lower spring rates. With the pillow mount added onto the rear, and adjusted to a dampening of only two clicks, I am smiling at every bump and rough road now, even with the stiff springs.

Are you on AST5200'S? Im thinking of going with these and replacing my KW v1's.

What was your previous suspension setup, and what changes did you notice with the switch to AST?

I have the AST 5100 which is rebound adjustable. My previous coilover was the Eibach Multi-pro R1 which I think is poorly designed and has all sorts of problems with height and rebounding adjustments.

I noticed after the change that it is now comfortable on the street with no banging noises. With the lowering of only 1", the extra ride height allows me to go over bumps within hitting the undercarriage. The turn has improved which is prompting me to eventually change out the rear sway bar to something smaller than 22 mm. The back seems to wip out out quickly now into oversteer. It is quiet and compliant in street setting and just a cornering deamon when you push it. With the GTS springs, 450 in/lb front and back, almost all the lean is gone. I may not get much of the fourth wheel lifting anymore.

I finally adjusted my camber(not my daily driver)in the rear and now the outer side wall tucks into the well perfectly. The ride feels smoother too. One less thing to worry about now.

Your wheels are the same size/offset as mine, so I'm sure I'd have some bad rubbing as well. I went ahead and ordered conti DW's in 215/40/17, and they should be mounted up today!

I think by the time these wear out, I'll have upgraded to adjustable end links, so the next set of tires can be 235's and I can dial out the rubbing issues.

Slinger- Thanks for the feedback on the AST's! I'd love to upgrade my KW V1's to them, hopefully in due time

For future readers, a 215/40R17 is a pretty short tire, at 2.8% smaller than the stock size. A 215/45R17, at 0.7% larger than stock, is a closer match to the stock tire diameter.

True, on the other hand it gives a small gearing advantage without buying a new diff ratio. A side benifit is lowering the car a little bit more while still retaining good shock travel.

Post pics of your wheels. I have 17x7.5 35et as well and debating whether I should go 215/40 or 205/40.

Any chance you have that number for a 235/40?

Google is an awesome resource where you can search all kinds of things. In this instance plugging in "tire size calculator" can make you look as smart as dan!
