Anyone Refinished BBS R90's
Hello, I've decided to refinish and polish up my BBSR90's 17". The clear coating on the outside lip has been completely eaten away by the salt that's put down where I live. So sanding and sanding and polishing will clear out any corrosion but does anyone have experience getting the center part out. I have the right torx bit, but I'm afraid to strip them all. I can't get them do budge. I might have to take them to a shop and pay someone to do this, unless someone has an idea for me.
Torx bit T40 with a 3/4" drive not working too well right now. |

You need a triple square socket to remove the bolts (female 12 point 8mm).
Make it a project, take your time, strip, sand and polish. Maybe get the centers low temperature powder coated. Clean and inspect all the bolts. Get a torque wrench that works in inch pounds. Use lock tite on the bolt threads and cross torque the bolts (like wheel bolts). I don't remember the torque spec on the bolts but it wasn't real high. Just remember BBS really doesn't want you the do this...but screw'em the results are well worth all the work. |
Bump. Let us know the progress. I'm thinking about refinishing a set of R90s also. Maybe painting them.

What would be a ballpark price for a shop to refinish a set of R90s? Any recommendations?

Bbs r90 refinish
The prices I had locally were starting at $500. Without paint. That was just strip and polish. To paint it went up to starting price $800.

BBSR90 bolts
I reused the titanium bolts without any difficulty. I would say buy a few replacements in case they get striped in the process but I was lucky.
