Which brand to buy for Run Flats?

I just passed 50K and it will be soon for new tires.I like the security of the run flats since I live in the boondocks and drive 100+ miles a day in the dessert.Do I replace with the same OEM tire or is another brand run flats better?

I went for Kuhmo's. They are great and cost a crapload less than anything else out there. You can get them from Americas tire for $200 or less fitted.

While I'm looking forward to non run-flats, everyone around me tells me that the Continental SSR is the best on the market. Most are telling me that I should buy them instead of ditching run-flats entirely.

The do look pretty good.

We have Contiprocontact SSR's on the front of our new-to-us cooper. The rear's are the OEM goodyear runflats. (getting new tires today)

I'm not a big runflat fan, but the Conti's seem nice for a touring tire. If you want a more spirited and grippy tire I would tell you to look towards a traditional tire. But if you want runflats I would recommend the Conti's.

So, the Conti's and kuhmo are the two to be looking at.

I always recommend doing what it takes to get non run-flat tires. You'll save enough to almost cover a small spare with a donut and even a can of fix-a-flat for small punctures. The ride will be considerably smoother and your handling will be better.

Continental SSR is a pretty good reasonably priced run flat.

I bought Kuhmos for the first replacement, and did not like them at all. A lot louder, and at slow speed turns it felt like I was driving on gravel. Good grip though, and cheap, until the front left blew apart at freeway speed at less than 24k miles.... Went back to Dunlops after the Kuhmo fell apart, but I hear they are no longer made. Hope that helps.
