help me!!!!

Hi there..
My car is R57 cooper S
I have been posted as 225?235?
I contacted to CCW wheel manufacturere cause I am so interested in CCW classic4 race version
And I asked them that 17inch 8J ET+45(according to this forum) with 235/40/17(Neova AD08 or pilot sport2) can cause rub.
But they were not sure of that so I let them know this forum and thread of Mach V dan...Still they are not sure of rubbing issue.
Also I have plan to set H&R down spring

1.Do I have to order volk RE30 17inch 7.5J ET+48 with 225/45/17 all around or 235/40/17 all around?-is the width of wheel too narrow for this tire?may this set cause rubbing issue?

2. or Do I have to order CCW classic4 17inch 8J ET+45 with same as above tire?I wonder rubbing issue...

really bad road condition make me stick to buffy and wider tire!
Please help me!!!!

17x(7-8) et 45 with 225/40/17 should work

18x(7-8) et 45 with 225/(35or40)/18 have also worked

235s? thats pretty wide... but would be crazy awesome for stance

Please don't order CCWs and get et 45. Spend more time to figure out exactly what offset you need to have a decent lip.

Kris is running almost those same wheels in 18x8 et 32 I think and his looks fantastic. I think he's running on 215/35/18 and doesn't see much rubbing. Is this for track use or for street use?

225's fitting is a crap shoot, likely rub unless you put spacers on it. People are about 50/50 on the safety of using spacers. Most people in the tire business will tell you not to for whats it's worth. Sure many will line up and say they are AOK.

235's I don't think are going to work

Even if you use spacers your tire will be outside the wheel well with 225+ which is gonna spray water/snow/ice/salt you name it all over the place.

Not saying you can't do it, you can but there are some negative tradeoffs IMJ

Stick with 215's

thanks alot for your reply!
but as you see, I can hardly find 225/40/17 sized tire in yokohama or michelin
So I have to go with 225/45/17 or 235/40/17

If for track use, I will go volk RE30-it is really light..furthermore, there is no track in my home city(I live in South Korea)

As I mentioned previously, I can not find 225/40/17 sized tire..
According to the thread of Mach V dan, 17inch 8J ET+45 with 235/40/17 does not cause rub....
What is true?....................
If 225/45/17 or 235/40/17 is not possible, I will stop all my plan to tune up and just keep in stock

There are no street compound 225/40R17s. Hoosier makes one in their R6 compound, but I wouldn't run that on the street.

I've run that tire size on several 17x7.5" wheels. I assume 17x8" would also work, but haven't tried it myself. With Sumitomo HTR-Z II 235/40R17 on 17x7.5" +45, it did NOT rub.

Both are with 235/40R17, no rubbing, lowered on Mach V Technic springs.
