Kosei K1 Racing

Anybody have any experience with fitting 15x7 Kosei K1 Racing rims over R53 JCW calipers?

Not personally but search the forums to see if they'll fit over stock r56 calipers - they're the same size.

First thing I tried was searching but the term "racing" brings back a bunch of non related hits and most posts are talking about K1 TS model. Incidentally the K1 TS does seem to have a very similar casting where the spokes meet the lip so I hope that bodes well.

The K1 TS 15 x 7 with a +38 offset definitely does--I have a set I'm going to put up for sale. Not sure about the K1's, but as I sort of recall, you had to go to 16's to clear with these--give alex at Tirerack a call, he should be able to tell you for sure.

Check with cct1.

Noz, I'd still ask Alex--I'm pretty sure the 15 x 7 K1's don't fit, because that was the wheel I originally wanted, and wound up with the 15 x 7 K1 TS instead, which clears with a + 38 offset. But that was a couple of years ago...

What are you using them for? I love my K1 TS's, but they don't fit my current BBK (The TSW BDM), but they did clear the JCW brakes just fine, so I'm putting them up for sale. But these were track only rims, I definitely wouldn't use these for everyday driving, I'm not sure how they'd hold up on potholes and the like....

Your correct, TS works K1 racing doesn't.

Thanks for the heads up Alex and everybody else, it's much appreciated.

Is that the general consensus? That K1 TS rims aren't durable enough for street use?

As a side note, with all the conflicting info we should start a wiki page with a listing (and pictures) of 15" rims known to fit each model.

There are people that run them everyday. I wouldn't; the roads around here aren't that great. These are lightweight rims--very lightweight--and are beautiful for the track. But you pay a price with the lighter weight; they aren't going to hold up to pounding over potholes like the heavier OEM rims. There are reports of these getting bent hitting potholes; I saw one rim firsthand myself that got dinged up pretty bad in Chicago.

Mine held up great, but then again, they were track only rims, and I only had one serious offroad excursion with them....
