Keskin KT1 16x9 +30

I'm interested in picking up a set of Keskin KT1's and I want to know if this size will fit my R53 without issues...

Keskin KT1

16x9
+30 off set

Probably run a 225 series tire at the minimum.

I'm running on stock suspension and will probably only lower about an inch in the future.

What do you guys think? I'd rather not roll my fenders..

What are you going to use this wheel for?

Track, autocross, street use, car shows?

The stock wheel is 16x6.5 so adding 2.5" of width you're going to have to worry about rubbing on the outer side on the inner wheel arch plastic if you lower your MINI. With stock suspension it should be OK but don't use a tire size much larger than stock.

If you do lower, coilovers that allow for full ride height adjustment will give you the most flexibility and lowest risk of rubbing.

The wheel size you mentioned is fine if you can use a tire that is not too tall. 16x9 with +30 offset puts your wheel about 0.3" closer to the suspension parts and 1.7" farther out of the wheel well.

But sizes that fit 9" rims are mostly geared for the track or autocross, for example 245/45-16 such as Fuzion ZRi, tire diameter 24.6" which is slightly taller than stock. This size will work with stock suspension.

If you wanted to lower your MINI more than an inch then 225/45-16 would barely fit a 9" wide rim since it should be used with a rim 7-8.5" wide.
Tire diameter is a small 23.7" which gives more clearance. More rear negative camber will also help with clearance.

Don't forget that a wide wheel is a heavier wheel. Most owners choose 16x8 which is wide enough but can still use a 245/45-16 tire.

I'm running 225/50R16s on a 7" wide wheel with 42mm offset & no spacers. There's about a quarter inch clearance between the front struts & the tires and about the same clearance between the rear trailing arms & the tires. Tire flex doesn't seem to cause any rubbing on the inside but I can tell you the painted surfaces never get dirty by the tire so it's got to be really tight in the corners.

I have the stock JCW camber settings (0.5 negative front & 1.5 negative rear). The front body work never touches the tires but I had to trim the rear wheel liners, fender arches, and rear bumper to achieve zero rubbing.

That said- The width & offet you mentioned seems like it's going to cause your tires to protrude well beyond your fender arches. This set-up would really amplify torque steer, too, so I wouldn't recommend it.

How much trimming you might have to do will depend on your suspension drop, your alignment, and your exact tires as square tread shoulders will leave less clearance.

I have run 15x8 rims with 225/50-15 tires with no trouble at all front or rear.

The OP has a wheel which is wider but also has +30mm offset which is quite aggressive. This pushes the wheel outward. Sometimes if it is way out you can add fender flares or it will look funny.

For a thread with wider wheels-

keskin kt1 16x9 et 25 with 205/40/16

you might have some issues with inner clearance and a tire the large will almost certainly rub

IMO the wheels will not look good if you aren't pretty extensively lowered.

those are et25^^^

And you definitely have to run a sick stance to pull off wheels of that width. Fat tires and mediocre ride heights won't cut it. 215's and slammed is the way to go if you run 16x9's

No worries. I just think it's the difference between fitting and not fitting. the 25's only have about a finger width of space on 16x9s when it comes to the first gen pre-05 trailing arms. 30's will start cutting it close if not rub on the trailing arm.

Hi Rally,
is it a typo, or trailing arms are really differents from 2002-2004 to 2005-2006 R50s?
I want to install Brock B2 16X9 et30 with 215-45-17 on a 2006 R50.
Thanks.
PS: I looked in realoem.com and the numbers seem to be the same

It's my mistake....the only first gen's that received the aluminum trailing arms are the GP's. All other first gen's are still on the steel trailing arms.

Not to hijack but Rally are you saying in order to run a 17x9 with a strech slammed on a r53 I would have to be in the 25's for offsets so it doesn't hit the rear trailing arm?

The highest I've seen is 17x9 et30 on a first gen and there was barely a pinky-finger width between the inner barrel and the trailing arm. You might be able to get away with et32, but I can't garauntee that.

Most people run 9et25 and 215's or 205's.
