08 MCS cc-id 142 tpm warning after rotation?

08 MCS cc-id 142 tpm warning after rotation?

I have an 08 MCS; had the tires rotated, and when I got home after picking the car up from the shop, when I shut it down it displayed a YELLOW tpm warning.

Going through what would be the normal TPM reset procedure, it gives me the error code:

cc-id 142

and I can't clear the code as I would for low pressure in one tire.

Any hints or suggestions (other than take it back or to the dealer)?

Any Fix???

I just had to replace tires due to a VERY large pot hole on one of the local roads. Now I am getting the "CC-ID 142" that you mentioned.

Can you tell me what you wound up doing to correct the indication?

I cheated and looked at the info plate on the driver's door to see what the car thought the tire pressure should be -- 38 psi! I'd been going with 32!

Brought all four up to 37-38 psi, reset the system, and all okay.

...that was with the Conti run-flats. Ditched those last week and went with non-run-flats, which should be set to 34-35 psi.

Many many moons ago (long before my Mini), I had an encounter with a pothole in the (in)famous Chelmsford Center -- took out the tire, rim, half-shaft, cv joint, and more. If you hit something really memorable, you might have damaged the tpm sensor on that wheel. Not sure how to diagnose individual sensors.

I just had a set of bridgestone G019 Grids (non-rft) put on. I checked them this morning and they are at 34 lbs. Maybe I'll tweak them up to 35 and try again.

Do you have any idea as to what is the definition of the "CC-ID 142"?
(Other than there is some problem in the TPMS system?) Your posting is
the only reference I have found.

You have fine choice in tires -- or there's a special deal going on those! That's what I put on. I'd suspect a damaged TPM.

Since you both have the Sport package, I'm guessing you both have 17" wheels. The lowest pressure recommendation for 205/45-17 tires I've found is 36 psi. Where did you find the 34-35 recommendation?

34 lbs was a SWAG. I had G009s on previous car and ran them at 32lbs. (no TPMS) the wife has G009s on her 325, at 32lbs. I'll jack them up to 36 and see what happens. I'd prefer to not have to drive the 100 mile round trip for the dealer to address the problem.

I'll let you know what happens.

Correct on the 17 inch wheels. The 34-35 is my memory of what the tire guy (Wheel Works, who I've gone to for years and multiple vehicles) told me, but I'll check the written info as well.

Even my daughter could tell the difference -- not as harsh, not as noisy, and more "wiggly."

One sure way of testing your faith (and your sanity) is letting your 17 year old daughter drive your car...

More wiggly? What tires did you get? I wonder if she is talking about turn-in response? Or, are the more squirrely on rough pavement?

bridgestone g019 grids. As best I can determine, "wiggly" means more responsive, particularly in sport mode.

Subsequent to my last post, I increased the pressure to 37. TPMS reset with no problem. The ride at that level is still very solid. I just put 110 miles on for work, so far, and all is going well. I'm gonna try going down to 35, see how the TPMS handles that and check tread to road contact with a pressure pad test. I want to get to the most comfortable ride and best tread wear possible.

The best way to evaluate the wear vs. pressure is to use a tread depth gage.

Under inflated will wear the sides of the tread.
conversely...
Over inflation will wear the middle of the tread.

Thanks, Alex, for the wear information. I understand how pressure affects tire wear. (I've been driving for almost 45 years) I would like to get the pressure right before tire wear is evident. Even though the G019's are not very expensive, I want the best wear possible.

An additional note:

After my early morning post, I dropped the pressure to 35. Did a TPMS reset and drove another 70 miles to get home with no problems. Ride feels great! I didn't get my teeth jarred once on these wonderful Jersey roads.
