Hello everyone! I got a questions for you guys I am running 15x6 with an offset of 43mm and I wanted to got that aggressive looking stance with my current tires before I go shelling out money on a new set of tires and rims (tax time next year) so I was looking at wheel spacers and I was wondering what you guys would recommend, the more aggressive the better but I don't want to have any rubbing issues! 2013 JCW hatch on 17x7.5 Rota RBs with 45mm offset.
12.5 spacers in front - none in rear.
Lowered 2" with mach V springs.
Wears 235 (yes)/40/ 17 rubber.
No rubbing or scraping -no poke.

I'll be honest, I don't know much about fitting fat tires or high offsets as it's not really my style and I haven't had the chance to ever get my hands on sets like that to testfit in person. My knowledge base is more among low offset wide wheels and the tire sizes needed to fit those....I have far more experience in that realm than the opposite one.
17x8 et40 should be alright with stock springs. Some coilovers might cause problems as the perches may get in the way. As noted above 215's shouldn't be a problem, 225's may be possible but you'd really have to look closer into the numbers. Some 225's might be thinner than some 215's....so it will really vary.

I have 17x8.25, offset +25 and I'm trying to figure out what size tires can I run on stock JCW suspension without rubbing on my R53 JCW. Hopefully I can get a response from someone even though it's been 9 years.
Compared to OEM 17x7" et48 rims your 17x8.25" et25 will be 7.1mm further from the inner suspension strut and poke out 38.9mm more which is a lot.
Stock JCW suspension is mildly lowered so you still have some clearance and should stick to tire diameters of about OEM 24.3" or close. 8.25" wide rim is very wide so a wide tire that is tall will not clear the wheel arch edge plastic.
Which tire do you have now? Are you looking for a Summer tire or All Season tire, extra wide tire sizes may not be very good depending on which tire class you are looking for.
Are you driving only on the street or do you track the car or do performance driving events?
235/40-17 and 245/40-17 are possible tire sizes near OEM tire diameter and suitable for rims 8" wide. Tire selection is more for performance so tire wear will be faster and ride quality is firm.

Probably up to a 225/45/17. A 215 would likely be better with a touch of stretch to it. Not sure how great it would look on stock suspension though. Best would be a little drop and some camber.
On my car the rims are 17x10 wrapped on 205/55/17 super stretched tires and lowered to the point only one finger fits ,looks good but you need to do a good amount of trimming on the inside

I had the exact same problem, sounds like your inside splash guard might be the one doing the rubbing not your fenders, i trimmed mine a good amount but it still rubbed on something, i took my rim off and noticed my splash guard was rubbed. take something sharp and cut it off should solve the problem.
Back in the days of Artiegore, Manuel had a flatback Mach 1 with N50's with shallow backspacing. Man, did it look KOOL but Manny drove that badboy fast over a big dip and ripped off BOTH rear quarters. We all learned some lessons that day.
Your situation sounds dangerous. Check inner fender felt-like material and trim accordingly. Check plastic fender trim for signs of wear. Both of these can be fixed with a sharp instrument. Check the steel under the felt and you can go old school roll out with a baseball bat. Finally, check your CAMBER and make necessary adjustments.

Keep in mind I am on coil overs and fender rolling isn't an option on a countryman with plastic fender flares
