So purchased my Clubman with the stock 15" wheels and tires because I was told by tons of people that aftermarket wheels were a better option compared to those from mini. But now that I'm starting to shop I have some questions (and yes I have done a search but all the info seems scattered.)

1. I'm looking at 17" or 18" wheels - obviously the 18 offer a more harsh ride but is it really that much more harsh? I really like the look of the 18" wheels but if its going to break my back then I'll go smaller.

2. Can someone explain offset to me? I just don't get it - and what is the proper offset of for an 09 clubman or does it vary by wheel?

3. Obviously weight is important as is durability but I'm trying to weigh cheaper aftermarket vs brand name wheels. Meaning if I find a R90 knock off on Ebay is that wheel really going to suck in terms of weight and durability compared to the real thing?

I really dig the look of the multiple spoke wheels so if anyone has any other suggestions that would be great

If you like the mesh wheels look at ASA AR1/AR2. Buying from TireRack can save money on mount and balance. Getting the eBay wheels versus TireRack may not save you any money since you can combine the shipping on wheels and tire plus get the mount and balance. The $34 difference per wheel can be recovered fairly easily.

TireRack will also provide you all the info you need to get the correct product.

I have a set of 2007 17” Mini Cooper S factory wheels and tires for sale. These optional wheels were used on the later Mini “S” cars. These wheels will update/dress up your Mini while improving the appearance and increasing the value.The wheels have been kept in good condition and are straight, true and balanced. There are a few light marks/scrapes on a few of the wheels but overall they are clean and nice. The wheels are wrapped with (goodyear 205/45R17) which have about a year or two tread remaining (some tread a bit more, some a bit less).

 

maybe put a listing in the marketplace instead of trying to sell them in a non-sales thread?

I looked for light wheels that were cheap. Got them from TireRack. But watch out for close spacing on the spokes, or complicated patterns, as these take a lot of work to get all the brake dust off when you clean them.

Offset is the distance from the wheel center to the plane that the wheel face mates to the surface of the disc rotor.
