Rear Brake Pad Q's
 

I'm doing a rear pad replacement and i noticed that there are some wires/ springs on the back of the pad that goes on the side of the piston. I've searched and cant figure out what these are for? Any Idea's?

I cant seem to get the piston to compress enough for the caliper to go back on. It just barely doesnt fit and I'm wondering if they are needed.

R you just posting to get these answers yet again for entertainment?

The rears of a GEN1 have spring clips that mate to the grooves on the caliber piston. It slides on pretty damn easy.

The piston may not retract very easily if you don't account for the need to rotate clockwise (due to the e-brake mechanism) .... the Harbor Freight tool is one easy way to accomodate.....

If this is all new I'd suggest you seach here on 'rear brake DIY'

Well, im not sure what you mean by "yet again"
I have the harbor freight tool and the piston is as compressed as its going to get. I'm not just posting this for S**ts and giggles, i actually want to put my car back together again. Ive read the DIY post 10,000 times already and nothing is mentioned about the springs.
