I am struggling to decide on appropriate replacement tires for my MCS. I am replacing the 17 inch Slites and want allweather tires with at least adequate grip in light snow, as well as decent performance in the dry. I also want rolling diameter to be close, so as to keep speedometer accurate and avoid significant change in effective drive ratio. The options are pretty limited in the size that MINI uses as stock. Anyone have experience or suggestions?

16x6.5-7.5 will fit with the correct offset. Alex can help you with that. For tire sizes you are correct, not a whole lot of choice. I have S03 and absolutely love them, but they are temp A traction A definately not all weather. 205/50 is quite comfortable and meets the load rating, 205/40 is more sporty and doesn't meet the load. Whichever you do, pay close attention to the weight, it really does matter. (Yes I know the tire I got are a bit heavy but they were the best choice availible at the time). Try to avoid getting more than 15-16 pounders on the rims. You absolutely will notice the difference cause anything is better than the boat anchors.

I was thinking of putting 225/50's on 7" wide rims. The local wheel & rim shop said they'd be wider than the rim and bulge. He suggested 215/50's. I want w i d e tyres!!
