Just finished up installing some Ferodo 2500's. They do not come with the wear sensor wire that was attached to my stock LF pad. I cut the wire, the brake pad light is going off on the speedo. On my Audi there were two wires that I simply hooked together to keep the light off. The MCS has one wire; I'm assuming I need to ground the wire to make the light go off. Is that right?

Any thoughts on the best way to ground the wire? It's attached to the ABS sensor wire and trails off into the engine compartment, I couldn't find the other end. Right now I have a 2" wire tail leading off of the brake fluid nipple.

I would try grounding it temporarly, test the theory and go from there.

An old caraudio trick, get the lowest amperage fuse you can .5 amp fast blow, run it in line when you ground.(for testing purposes) If any serious current starts down this wire, the fuse blows, saving your wiring.

Can't you just order a new one from MINI?

My old Z3 had the same type of thing (haven't looked at my MINI yet) and I busted the wire sensor housing trying to remove the sensor from the pad. I just called my local guy and got the replacement for $19.

I know there are no "local" MINI shops yet, but you should be able to pick one up from your dealer (or order one from a dealer on these boards.)

Probably, but I really don't want/need it. As often as I change wheels and brake pads it's not a very useful feature for me. I just cut the wire 1/2 way between the pad and the bleeder nipple.
