R53 Pirelli & Dunlp differences? Why'd they switch?

Curious as to why MINIUSA decided to switch from the Pirelli's to the Dunlop's on the R53 MCS.

Cost?
Complaints?
Partnership?

On the R56, people have reported getting different brands of tires for the same application (summer or all season). You'd have to be inside that part of MINI/BMW to know why.
