I hate the fact that they are only going to be on the car only 10 days a year.

A 10mm spacer should push the wheel out to the fender. But then comes tire size, I was thinking something bigger than a 215/40 to fill out the wheel well a little better but a 215/45 is TOO big, for my tastes at least. If only they made 225/40/17...

I just like 205's cause they won't be all bulgy and ugly on a 7 inch rim. That can kill the look of wheels. And unless you're tracking your car with these wheels....you don't need much more than 205's on your 7's. My guess is that the Alta car is running 205's...there's a tiny tiny bit of stretch going on.
215/40/17 if you want grip and still shorter than stock. I've run multiple 205's and I drive too hard through corners for 205'. The front end always slides for me. No issues with 215's
Then again....if absolute performance was a concern, he wouldn't be looking at 17's anyways.

brakes? If anything, I'm accelerating through the turn....on the street, not talking about autox. Throw it hard around a corner and it slides. At least on the three sets of 205's I've had. I had 205/45/17 ZIEX 912 on 17x7 for a month and swapped over to 215/45/17 on 17x7.5. No more front end sliding.
I'm also running coilovers, so that might be the deal...less body roll means something's got to give (suspension ability quickly overloads mechanical grip). I had the same issues on my Suby with narrow front tires...going to 245's meant more speed carried through the corners.

I had 205/40/17 Parada Spec2's prior to my 215/40/17 Ziex 512 and I obviously preferred the former from a handling perspective. However, I like the ride on the 215/40/17 better. They don't look too bulgy on the S-Lites but I was thinking about trying out the Falken 451 this time around.
205/40/17 is cheaper though

Are you running stock class? Just wondering technically the 16X7 isn't legal ive been trying to find some options for the legal 16x6.5 size, but the rota slipstreams seem to be hard to come by and the SSRs and motegis are just beyond what i want to spend. They should just let you round up to the nearest inch so hard to find a wheel that is legal and light.

I was going to get some Slipstreams used from someone in town, but they rubbed my brakes big time.
