FYI dealer can install tpms in aftermarket wheels

Not sure if this has been mentioned (i did search) but your dealer can install the tire pressure sensors in aftermarket tire/wheels. I just showed up at my dealer asked if they had the tire sensors, they walked over to the BMW parts desk came back with 4 sensors and 4 valve stems, cost was around 250 for everything. They took the tires off of my wheels installed the sensors, put the tires back on, and filled them with nitrogen and reset the system. Took maybe an hour and a half.

If you are in Chicago it was done at Patrick MINI.

I just bought MOMO Course RPM wheels for my wife's new Clubman which we should be getting this weekend, depending on if it left Charleston today. My dealer said it was going to cost $300 to change the sensors out to the new wheels. I ordered the wheels and tires from Discount Tire here in Orlando and they said that since I bought the package from them, they are going to change out the sensors for free. I thought that was pretty cool of them to offer that since we bought a completely loaded MCS Clubman from the dealer not to mention a fully loaded 05 MCS Cabrio and fully loaded 06 MC from the same dealer, and they were still going to charge me to change out the tpms. If they would of said $100 bucks, I probably would of done it, but $300?

$300? Cheap - Last time I calculated my dealer's labor it was $395 an hour

Sorry to resurrect this -I've searched and come up empty.
I recently purchased new aftermarket tires/wheels from Tire Rack, complete with TPMS. I swapped them on night before last and I get the wheel exclamation light (i.e. TMPS not working or a flat). It is not going away.

What is this "reset" I see mentioned? It's not really described... is it just a disconnect-the-battery reset??

Thanks for any advice!

Take a look at your Owner's manual. It is just one of the settings you can access on the computer using your turn signal stalk.
