F1 GS-D3 on OEM 16" Wheels?

So in order to pass inspection I need to get new tires. I've managed to run the OEM runflats down enough that I failed safety in 8000 miles.

I had been planning on getting new wheels with the tires, but that's not an option atm. So now I need to fit a good tire on my OEM S-Winders that came with 195/55 16R Continentals.

I want to try a non-RF and had decided on the Good Year F1 GS-D3s based on feedback here.

I used the Tirerack Size Calculator to figure out what options I might have beyond the exact 195/55 spec.

This is the first time I've really looked seriously at tires and was wondering if anyone could offer some advice. Based on the tire size calculator it seems like my best option is:

Good Year F1 GS-D3 @ 205/55 ZR16

I'd rather the speedometer be slightly fast, than slow.

Any advice would be awesome!

thanks

Use 205/50/16. The 55 is a little taller overall, which will make your speedo slightly slower. The 50 will make your speedo slightly faster. But both are very close and within the normal error of the speedo.

Yes, For GY GS-D3:

205/50-16 is good choice on size, lower priced at $129 each and one lb lighter than 205/55-16 which runs taller.

205/50-16 is 1.3% shorter than stock tire diameter.

When speedometer reads 60mph (96.6km/h) actual speed will be 59.2mph (95.3km/h): 1.3% slower.
