17x7 ET38 with lowering springs on R56?

17x7 ET38 with lowering springs on R56?
I like the thought of a wider stance with the 38 offset, but will I have a problem with 215/45/17 tires on a lowered R56 (springs)? Do I have to keep the offset in the low to mid 40's?

ET42 is best with 215/45 though worst case is a little dremel work

PGT, have you checked out the R56 to compare wheel well room vs your car? I hear there is more room, but in which directions? I have seen some pretty crazy setups to think that a 38 offset wouldn't work.

Mach V is running 235/40/17 on 7.5ET45 with no issues. I'd have to run the delta on the two apps to see, but I think there's more outboard than the R53.

I actually plan on running the exact same setup, so any info about any clearance issues would be great.
