Drag Wheels? The brand, not racing...
So, are they any good? Total junk? Waste of money?
I know nothing about these wheels, and had never heard of them until today. So tell me what ya know. I found a set that looks VERY similar to the no longer being made 18" ASA AR1s I wanted at Discount Tire today, and the price is definitely right.
So help out a wheel newb and give me some info on these please! Thanks!

DRAGS
Hey if they're at the right $$ then go for it. Don't let people get you caught up w/ weight or the fact that they're cast and not forged. For street use they'll be fine. Oh, and by the way I still have a set of 17" Flik Wasps (almost the same wheel) for sale.

Drag wheels
Used Drag DR16, this past year.No winters. Nice polished lip,no paint issues. As well made as most, more expensive aftermarket wheels, I have purchased thru the years. Discount tire reported 17" weighing approx 17lbs. Nice price from Discount Tire.

I tried searching, found nothing but threads about drag racing. I said I was a wheel newb, not a forum newb.

Thanks for the links though, and thanks for the responses everyone. Good to know they're not total crap. I think I might just get me some. The Privat Netz I want are a month or so out, these I can get in 3-5 days!

I just received my DR-20's black with polished lip (16 X 7). I think they look killer and they are lighter than I expected. The shipping weight was 35lbs for the pair.
Now for rubber and summer!

im running the Drag DR21's on my dd. it's actually pretty good.
much better than ADR as far as weight and paint quality, that's
for sure.
just keep a good coat of wax on the polished part. i'd say pretty
similar in quality as rota.

I emailed Discount Tire Direct and ask them about the weight of each of the following Drag wheels:
DR-12 17x7
DR-25 17x7
DR-9 17x7
And their response was "they all weigh 28 lb". I find that very hard to believe as I know a 15x6.5 DR-9 weighs only 12.3 lb. So I don't think a mere two-inch increase in diameter and half-an-inch increase in width would push the weight to 28 lb.
I guess this is what happens when people don't work on commission, they just don't care; they get paid the same either way.

15" wheels often weigh about 10-13 lbs so your DR-9 weight looks OK as well.
You can try calling them back and talk to another salesperson and see what answer you get.
I have just mounted up a set of Drag DR-9's 17X7 and inside each wheel is stamped (embossed into the metal) "15 lbs". Now does that mean the weight of the wheel is 15 lbs? Any tire guys out there know for sure?
I bought 'em with the wheels in a pkg. deal from Discount Tire Direct. The term "locking" is used loosely because pretty much every mother's son out there has the key for them. But they do look good... I don't have a picture handy right now but I did show them in a previous post on the "show me your wheels" thread. Page 207 I think.
The DR-19 in black, 42mm offset, 17X7.5 with new Nitto NT-01 205/40/17 is 39.8 lbs according to my bathroom scale, exactly the same as my R98 17" wheel with new 205/40/17 Falken Ziex512. I believe the NT-01's in this size is around 19-20 lbs.
