R105's & 225/40R 16 tire size

It is time to put some new tires on my R105's. My tire dealer sugested changing from the stock 205/40R 18 to 225/40R 18 to save some money. Will this tire size work on my MCS? Do I need the JCW stering angle bracket? How will this change MPH reading?

Thanks all.

wrong rim size in heading.

Just notice. The rims are 18". Thanks

225/40-18 fits rims from 7.5 to 9" wide, perfect fit for 8" wide rim. Tire diameter is a taller than stock 25.1" which might work for stock suspension but not for a lowered MINI.

Another possible size is 225/35-18
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric $204 each
240 treadwear 24.2" tire diameter (nearly stock)

225/40 - 18

So it sounds like these tires will work. Will I need the JCW stering angle bracket & will this change my MPH reading on my speedo?

The R105s are 18x7... so is 225 too wide for a 7" wheel?
