Tire pressure for 205/55-16 tires.

What would be the recommended tire pressure, once I change my stock 195/55-16 Run-Flat tires, for a new set of 205/55-16 regular summer tires, should I stay with the recommended 30 psi or increase it a little.

TIA,

Guillermo.

Welcome to NAM

I run my non-runflat 205/50/16's at 32 psi. That would be a good starting point for you. See how you like that & adjust accordingly.

What year and model MINI do you have?

The new R56 MINI runs a higher pressure than the older models.

Look on your driver's side door jam- there is a plate there with all of the recommended pressures. They are not based on which tire you use, it is based on your car's weight and the load you carry- 2 vs 4 people.

For 2002-2006:
For two people run about 35 psi front and rear for all tires runflat or not (street use).

For four people run about 38 psi front and rear for all tires.

Search- this topic has been discussed before.

I've had the same question. The side door tag only gives you information on the tires that came with the car. Mine came with 15" wheels and I changed to 16s (205/50-16) for winter, and 17s (205/45-17) for summer.

The tire pressures are the same no matter the diameter of the wheel.

It is based on the weight of the car and the load.

Thanks guys, 32 psi is what I was thinking, because I mostly drive alone and I have a 2004 R50. The reason I asked (sorry for double posting) is because I couldn't find any posts about this specific size of tire (205/55-16) and I mistakenly taught that air pressure was relative to tire size.
