Don't know enough...
I have tried to search for what I am looking for, but I think I need some help...sorry in advance!
I have an 05 MCS that currently has 16" rims with all season runlflats on it. I live in Duluth and was going to get the Blizzaks and want to get new rims to mount the tires on and not have to take the run flats on and off with the season change. Would it be okay to run 15"? (since they do seem to run a bit cheaper) And where would be the best place to get the wheel and tire package? I have looked on tire rack and just not sure if I have the money (if I have to go the 16" route). When I talked to a guy at Firestone last, he told me his 15" Blizzaks were $84 a piece, which sounded pretty great to me. Just to find the rims I guess if you think that's a good price..... Another random question....a friend I know has 14" rims with snow tires already mounted from a Honda with the 4x100 bolt pattern...would this clear the brakes? Thanks in advance for the help :) |
To stay at the OEM diameter, you'd need a 175/65-15 (that's the stock size on the Cooper.)
You should be able to find a set of Cooper takeoffs if you want an OEM wheel. Try the marketplace. Here is a set of snow tires on rims. I doubt the 14" would fit, but it's worth a try... |
The Tirerack deals aren't bad. Blizzaks mounted on the 15" steel wheels they have come in at $482 with the shipping included. Mounted, balanced, no fuss. Not a bad deal. Check out their packages with other snow tires and wheels and maybe you can come up with something that'll meet your needs and budget.

Thanks in advance for the help :) 15" wheels and tires would be fine. Check tirerack first and plug in your MINI with the correct year and options and search for winter 15" packages. Do you have stock suspension and stock front brakes? No JCW front brakes? I'm running 185/65/15 snows on my 06 MCS. I bought a set of used Holies off a Cooper. For tires I'm running Nokian Hakka 2's & have been very pleased with there snow performance.
