Edited: The ABS system connects to the spindle and not the caliper while the ABS system provides needed braking to all wheels.

The Enkei Race wheels are very BBK friendly with respect to clearance to the wheel spokes, and the Wilwood 12.19” kit is very wheel friendly. I run my 16” MINI Cooper wheels with those brakes, without spacers. So, diameter wise you will be fine. I really liked my 17” version of those wheels.
But a question - why go with the 16” wheel instead of the 17”? If I remember correctly, those 2 sizes are about the same weight and there is a better tire selection for the 17” wheels.

R53 with R90 BBS two pieces . Wilwood kit
Hi, I know this topic start so many years ago, but I would like to contribute.
I installed the wilwood 12.2" kit 4 pistons kit and wheels 17" BBS R90 two pieces, NO spacer required, it has enough clearance.
After installation, the big difference is that after a hard brake the ABS react faster than original brakes, I mean, with regular brakes I need to push the pedal to bottom in order to notice ABS, now, it appears with less force in the pedal, In my opinion it is expected.

Nice, very tight and yes they will grab early and send into abs, on the gen 2 MINIs you can have it flashed at the dealer, Gen 1 MINI like yours you just bed them in and drive on a while and they will grab less with age and time. Plus you will get use to it and be able to modulate the pedal with your foot,.

Welcome to NAM.
Difference is also likely due to different brake pads. Note that the Wilwood’s have a smaller total volume, so it takes less pedal movement to operate the brakes making them feel firer.
